Scripture comes to life through four powerful dramas Olivia
Woodford created that portray Women of the Bible as they participate in events
surrounding the birth, death and resurrection of Jesus. For more than a decade,
Olivia has performed these one-woman plays and led retreats at churches and schools
of all denominations throughout the country.
The plays are universal in their appeal and communicate the
heart of Jesus’ life and teachings. Written from the women’s
point of view, this great story is told with depth and relevancy,
and offers a fresh perspective on the life and teachings of Jesus.
The plays also describe the culture, traditions and daily routines
of people in Israel 2,000 years ago. Audiences experience what
it would have been like to live at the time when the Romans ruled
and Jesus walked the desert roads to give his message.
Retreats exploring Women of the Bible focus on having participant’s
explore the women in the gospels that are well-known as well
as those who are briefly mentioned. Through reading designated
Bible passages and having Olivia perform excerpts from her plays,
the roles of women in Israel, Jesus’ ministry and in church
communities today is contemplated and discussed.
